Mijn probleem
As is becoming more and more popular I decided to ditch my optical drive and replace it with the hard drive that came with my macbook pro, swapping that for a solid state drive that would run the os and applications.
Mijn oplossing
It went very smoothly. I had performed this operation before on a white plastic macbook. That was a more difficult fix, many more screws and parts to remove. The unibody macbook pro has been much much easier to deal with. I had replaced the ram earlier so I already was familiar with pulling the back off. I would say that the Spudger was a worthy tool, I was very glad to have it. It just makes the whole task feel a bit safer, which is important when you are toying with a machine that you've sent a significant amount of money on.
Mijn advies
The ifixit optical bay drive enclosure has this little plastic spacer in it that is very easy to remove, but I didn't realize that it should come out before the hard drive went in until I had tried to squeeze the drive in a couple times. Once you pull out that spacer it makes more sense and putting the spacer back after the hard drive is plugged in makes it a really good fit with no wiggle.
