Frigidaire refrigerator ice maker and water dispenser issue

Mijn probleem

We kept having an issue with our water dispenser randomly leaking, it wouldn't do it all the time and for a while I thought it was just laziness leaving ice on the ground...

There was also the issue that the ice maker would allow to much water to over spill into the ice maker and down into the ice box.

Did some short research and tried replacing the filter as I read it could cause issues.

Mijn oplossing

At first I did try a new water filter. It seemed to work well for a while and I thought that maybe the issue was resolved.

Well, no. It kept happening and I was tired of having to thaw out the freezer to clear out the water line and ice bucket.

More research led me to replacing the actual water control solenoid at the back of the refrigerator.

several months later and not signs of any issues!

Mijn advies

The part was super easy to replace and very cheap on Amazon.

Just removed the lower cardboard panel on the back of the refrigerator and you should see the solenoid with water lines connecting to it.

I cannot speak for ever refrigerator, but most of them are a one piece double solenoid, one for the icemaker and one for the water dispenser.

Best thing I recommend in looking for the part number on the old valve and googling or looking it up on Amazon.

Most were less than 30$
