Always a surprise inside every Apple "box"

Bought the 2nd Drive Install Kit for the 27" iMac Late 2007 and since I've been inside hundreds of Apple products over the years, I wasn't going in, naive about knowing what to expect. Sure enough, only HALF of the expected SATA port was present on the logic board, so I could connect the DATA portion of the cable for the SSD, but for Power, I had to buy a SATA Y power splitter cable and branch power from the SATA drive as my MacGyver Manoeuvre of the Day (no pun intended there with "Mac" in MacGyver... or perhaps there IS meaning there.. ha ha). As Stewie would say "Victory is MINE!"
The project worked, even tho the iFixit part didn't end up being necessary for my particular application. This site is invaluable however and we all need to contribute when and where we can for an all-round better experience... right? I'll hopefully be able to use the iFixit Dual Drive iMac cable in the NEXT operation I perform.
Take your time, leave the "ham-fisted methodology" for working on your car or getting angry at your lawnmower. Computer internals are delicate and costly.... so again...take your time, know the procedure beforehand. ANYONE can do this stuff with the correct tools. Get'em from iFixit if you don't have what you need. You can always work on your friends gear once you've proven you didn't destroy your own precious Apple items ;-)
