My Fan repair went wonderful

Mijn probleem

Ratling, tornado sound from my right fan. Clearly broken. My Macbook Pro is around 5 years old. But still running smoothley, even with Lion. It's worth the repair. First I opened the computer and used the vacuum cleaner (brute force, NOT adviceble) . But it didn't help. So, I looked up on Ifixit how to do that and if I could manage. I thought, not a big deal. Ifixit repaire website helped me before with HDD replacement. That went great.

Mijn oplossing

I bought the Fan part, at Ifixit. I saw some on Ebay aswell. But they where used and a little less in price. But still,.. used. It took just 3-5 days for delivery (US-The Netherlands). Notice, I payed some extra for this guaranteed quick service. I quickly opend the computer. The fan was easely to get out but I had trouble with the power socked. On my telephone I looked up the Ifixit website for the fan repair. Conclusion, I needed to move it upwards and not sideways. With a little bit more effort, I succeeded.

The instalment of the new fan was no trouble. After closing the laptop and booting up, the computer runs great, like new. I'm very pleased. Thanks!

Mijn advies

1. You need two screwdrivers read in the repaire manual at Ifixit.

2. Have excess to the repair manual while you do your repair (printout, 2nd computer or telephone with internet excess)

3. Be aware of all the screws you get out the computer (place them orderly and away from elbows ;)-)
