MBAir Iced Coffee Bath, Runs only corded power. Replaced battery WORKS!

Mijn probleem

While open and on, the MacBook Air early 2015 got a large iced coffee spilled onto the keyboard and computer. It quickly shut off and I thought it was done for. I mean I turned the computer on its side and coffee was running out of it. After wiping off what I could, keeping it open flipped it upside down (looked like a tent) let it dry for a few days. Preparing for the worst I called Apple for a price, over $750 for liquid damage. Several days later, magically (and amazingly) it turned on and ran. Only when the mag lock power was removed it immediately turned off.

Searching the web I ran across an article/blurb of some guy that spilled beer on his and had the same issue. When the power cord was removed the computer turn off, He replaced the battery and it worked from the battery. For less than $100 it was worth the risk. Low and behold, IT WORKED! computer is running as normal from battery. Thanks Ifixit.

Following the instructions on Ifixit and the provided screwdrivers. It was a breeze .

Mijn advies

Make sure you remove all the screws. Somehow I missed one and it took a moment to figure out why the bottom of the computer was not coming off.
