Successful macbook pro screen repair!

Mijn probleem

My dog knocked my laptop off the couch -- the LCD was clearly damaged (vertical and horizontal lines of solid-colored pixels, giant black spot on the right quarter of the screen), but the glass wasn't broken. The picture on my external monitor was fine when I plugged it in, so I was pretty sure it was just the screen that was broken, not other internal damage to the video card, so it was much less expensive (and not much of a risk) to try to fix it than replace the computer!

It went really smoothly and was easier than I was anticipating! The instructions were great, and very straightforward. I definitely made sure that I read the comments that people left at each step in case of any additional tips. The components involved when unplugging/plugging in are pretty delicate, so I headed the warnings about being gentle when working with it -- that was the only tricky part -- finding the sweet spot for pressure. You need enough to pull the plug out, but not so much that you hurt the pins!

Be patient and gentle when you're unplugging the tiny cables - getting it done faster is worthless if you end up breaking something.

This is true for any repair with lots of tiny parts, but consider setting up little containers (I used shot glasses) for the screws, etc that you remove at each step. I set the containers on a piece of paper and went through the directions before starting, labeling near the container what will be in it and what step number(s) I'd be using it.
