Stayin' Alive, Stayin' Alive
My internet was disconnecting repeatedly, sometimes I received a "no hardware installed" error message.
The repair went off with just one small hitch. The small piece of tape over the chassis. I wish it had been clearer that I would need to take this off and replace it carefully. I've been working to keep this laptop alive since 2012. I recently wiped the hard drive and reset the operation system back to 10.6 Lion. The Wifi issues were making the laptop unusable, but with this fix, I'm keeping it alive. Who can afford a new Macbook pro! Anyway, the next step will be to upgrade the ram so I can get my OS to a new level, and then attempt a screen repair to fix the shattered glass on my screen.
I was very happy to come across this tutorial because I know that Mac's are historically difficult to repair and I have very little experience. It was great that all of the tools were included as well.
I only ended up with one tiny screw left over. Still can't quite tell where it came from. However I have a slight suspicion it rattled loose over time from one of my speakers. However I'm not quite ready to go back in for exploration just yet.
Take off the tape very carefully. It would be great if a new piece of tape were included in the "kit". Also, be a little more clear that the chassis piece isn't necessary. The one I received didn't have the heat dispersion gel so I ended up not using it. But otherwise, very simple instructions.
