The iPhone survived the operation, but so did the problem

iPhone 4 Headphone Jack & Volume Control Cable Replacement

Difficult

Mijn probleem

My iPhone's headphone jack didn't work with the iPilot IR transmitter, though the same transmitter worked well with 2 other phones. Unfortunately, replacing the jack (assumed to be making poor contact with this transmitter) didn't fix the problem.

Mijn oplossing

The procedure was nearly perfect, and there's no way I could have even attempted without the tools and step-by-step guidance - thanks! 3 bits of improvement could be:

- recommend removal of the warranty/water leak adhesive dot with a razor until reinstallation

- recommend removing the headphone jack before removing the 5 screws the attach the silencing switch; this greatly improves the angle for accessing the topmost screw

- The toolkit didn't have a screwdriver wide enough that wasn't too thick to remove the standoff, so I used another from a jeweler's set I have. All other tools were perfect!
