iPhone 6 Screen Replacement (long version transferring all bits)
Mijn probleem
A buddy of mine dropped his iPhone 6 phone out of his shirt pocket. After living with a cracked screen for a while asked if I would he willing to try and replace it for him as the warranty was expired. The only repair I had done previously was a glass panel replacement on an iPhone 3GS.
Mijn oplossing
There were a few tense moments. I lost my concentration for just an instant during reassembly and started putting a screw in the wrong hole, fortunately not a phone killing error in this case!
Despite the fact I transferred the old home button to the new front panel, Touch ID will not function after the repair. I'm not sure what I did wrong to cause that.
Mijn advies
One of the last steps in the disassembly guide concerning removing the metal protective plate from the old display needs some revising. I had to refer to the comments the complete that step, and I'm positive that without the comments advising plenty of heat and caution I would have ripped the home button cable off the connector which is glued to the display. I used a hair dryer after the iOpener failed to loosen the adhesive sufficiently.
