iPhone 5 Battery Replacement - Keep an eye on those screws!

My iPhone 5 is not my main phone now, but I thought I might still use it for something. It needed a new battery, as it would continually shut off and would only work consistently when plugged in.

The repair proceeded just as illustrated in the videos. Everything came apart as it should. The initial task of separating the screen from the back, with the suction cup and pry tool can be a little tricky at first. I am glad I bought the tool kit from ifixit. Once you get the new battery in, it should be an easy process of putting it all back together. What they do not tell you in the video, though, is just how difficult it is to get those tiny, tiny screws back in place. It takes patience, a keen eye, holding your mouth just right, and a delicate touch. And do not drop those screws! But the new battery fixed the problem.

Mijn advies

Do this repair at a time of day when you are most alert, not late at night when you are a little tired. The plug for the battery just did not seem to "click" into the socket easily. I finally got it to work and held it down with the small metal plate which covers it, while I maneuvered the screws into their respective holes.The plugs for the display clicked into their sockets though. Be prepared for the assembly to take a little more time than the disassembly. Overall a good learning experience.
