I did it! iPhone 3G Battery Replaced Successfully!
Random shut downs, goofy charge %'s, short recharging times, basically using a "wired" cell phone... Had all of the settings set to maximize battery life - so dim I could barely read the screen... that sorta stuff.
With just a few hours/days/weeks/months to the iPhone 5 (or 4s or whatever) to be released, I was sorta hesitant to even do it in the first place, but for less than $20 it couldn't be that bad, could it? So, I read the instructions, watched the video, and did some more Google-ing. Got a second cup of coffee, took a deep breath, and embarked on my battery replacement journey. The only problem I had was after I broke the adhesion of the double stick tape, I had an extra screw...(supposed to only be 8, but I had 9). After about 5 minutes of scrutinizing I found the hole, near sticker 6 and replaced the screw. The other issue I had was getting the #6 cable connected (not related to the screw being lose...)
Read the instructions a couple of times and figure out where your issues might be...mine was with the reinstalling of the ribbon cables. I know from other similar experiences.
My only suggestion is to 'complete' the instructions for the 'return' trip, rather than saying "Follow them in reverse." I ended up referring to some chap in New Zealand who did the ENTIRE process back to closing the case, and THAT's how I got past the # 6 ribbon connector issue. Also picked up a great tip to blow out the phone w/ canned gas from him.
That being said, I WOULD NOT HAVE EVER ATTEMPTED this had it not been for your site, your reference information, your affordable parts and your super-fast order/delivery process. I am pleased !!! That is, until the iPhone 5 gets here...
