First Time Replacing iMac 27 in Screen/Display

We had a bad hard drive in a 27 in iMac that needed to be replaced. It was a 2012 and had double sided adhesive strips securing the screen. So we watch your videos on how to remove the Display and replace the adhesive strips, then reinstall the display. That video was right on target. Great repair video.

Mijn oplossing

We did not have the correct tools, but we used a credit card to remove the screen being very careful not to go to far inside the display to prevent damage, removed the power and display cable and took off the Display, Replaced the HD, then ordered the Adhesive strips and Spudger tool. Once we got the items, we viewed the video, as we reinstalled the display, following step by step instructions, one step at a time. Everything went as planned and showed by the video. The Spudger tool was handy to hold the adhesive strip, but just to hold the one side, we couldn't use it for the opposite side as the adhesive strips were a tiny bit longer and wouldn't let us line up the hold at the opposite end of the strip. So we used the spudger tool to hold the one end of the strip to align the one end of the strip and put the spudger tool in the first hole, but other than that, it was PRETTY easy.

Mijn advies

Just follow the instructions step by step and view the video as your replacing the display, pause when you need to, then once you do the step, continue the video to the next step, pausing as needed. Use the spudger tool to get the alignment of the first hole, but then once you have it started, use your hand to hold it in place and use your hand to finish it. The adhesive strips were tiny bit long, and we tried to angle the spudger tool to line up the 2nd hole, we just couldn't get it to line up the 2ND hole, so we did it free hand, but all went well.
