For some time, my battery has not been able to hold a charge for longer than an hour. It would go from 100% to 80% to 50% to zero, like someone falling down stairs, out of control. Something needed to be done. The thought of replacing the phone, having to think about what else to get, was unbearable. So I just lived with the phone as is. For a long time. I would make sure to have my charger cable in the car to keep the charge going, and was constantly recharging wherever I went. And then one day I snapped and said, I can do this. No more procrastination. iFixit says this is easy.
I got the kit sooner than expected. Had a pang of anxiety thinking I was about to ruin the phone. Took a deep breath and dived in. And now, hey presto, the new battery works like a dream! I go all day, using multiple apps, and it still has over 50% juice at the end of the day when I plug it in to charge. Such a joy.
Tech note: A big flat refrigerator magnet is great for holding the screws and keeping them from rolling around.
Psychology Note: You can do it! Just get the kit and set aside the time and get it done. It's so funny, I thought about this a long time before doing it myself. I even included the link to iFixit and admonished people to do it in the handy year round gift guide I wrote back in December. https://app.convertkit.com/landing_pages... - and then finally did it. Action is rewarding.
