Mijn probleem

There were white streaks on the left side of the screen as well as portions of the screen that wouldn't register touch input.

Mijn oplossing

The repair went smoothly with a single exception - the captive screw holding down the home button took me ~10 minutes to get in there. (No joke!) The magnetism of the provided screwdriver was fine for everything else, but for this particular piece it wasn't enough to keep it held on correctly, so i kept having to drop it toward the slot and hope for the best. I got it in there successfully probably 4-5 times, but each time the attached metal part would be in the wrong position. Even (extremely) gently correcting it with the spudger would pop it back out.

Mijn advies

For the captive screw part: this was clearly a job for some needle point tweezers and a second pair of hands, but I had neither available. Have one person grab the tiny screw with the tweezers, holding the metal part in the correct position and hold it over the hole, while a second person screws it in. I bet you could get it in the first try.
