Screen was broken after I dropped the phone. I wasn't a high drop and there was no physical damage to the screen. However the display showed all sorts of stripes and double images. I was overseas so could not bring it to the dealer for a possible (warranty) repair. So I ordered ahead and when I got home the parts were there.
Repair was easy. I had some experience from replacing an iPhone 5 battery a couple of years ago.
A total of 9 screws (screen 2, connector cover 5 and battery connector cover 2) undone. Disconnected the battery first as recommended by many people. Then disconnected the screen (4 connectors). Had to replace and move the Home Button (2 more screws) but all went without a hitch.
Reassembly no problems and then the big moment ..... switched it on an it worked fine.
Having the kit with all the right tools also helps a lot.
Try to stay young!! Doing this when you are nearly 60 years old get a bit tougher with respect to eyesight and hand-eye coordination. But again, all went well.
