5th. Gen. iPod Video Battery Replacement
Mijn probleem
This is (of course) an older ipod of mine, that I keep/use in my truck. I've known for some time that the battery was weak, and would not hold a charge for very long, that's why I always left it charging while in truck, IE: USB. One day, it would simply not turn on what-so-ever. So, after reviewing some other similar stories, I assumed it was in need of a new battery.
Mijn oplossing
Fairly straight forward.
Mijn advies
Yes. When trying to open/separate iPod, once you can get a gap started, try to get the "shoulders", or thicker part of tool further between case halves. Then rock/twist the tool side to side as you slide along the seam. This will greatly assist in "popping" the latches free. BUT, be careful, and don't insert tool too far inside. Take it SLOW.
Also, be VERY CAREFUL with upper (main) power connector! Mine dissembled fine, but during reassembly, I broke the connector free from the board. Now, luckily, I didn't bend the pins. So once I put the battery lead back into the connector and closed it, I was able to carefully "slide" the assembly back onto the pins. It seems to be as secure as before. Watch out here, but enjoy the process!
