Mijn probleem

The battery, although recognized by the computer in System Profiler and Coconut Battery, was not charging.

Mijn oplossing

The repair went well but the culprit ended up not being a bad MagSafe board but a defective "new" battery (yes a cheap non-Apple). Lots of people will say it serves me right for not buying an Apple battery but I have bought many El Cheapo batteries for Macs over the years that, although not as good as the Apple battery, were fine, especially for the price.

Mijn advies

I would strongly suggest not doing steps 7 through 16 in this guide. The repair is much easier and safer to do without removing the logic board. To remove the logic board requires unplugging several connectors that are easily damaged, connectors that cannot be disconnected many time without damaging them, so don't do them until you need to!

I suspect that several Macs have been destroyed by doing steps 7 through 16.

Also, before I re-insert connectors I spray a small amount of Deoxit D5 on a Q-tip and apply a tiny amount to the connector. I also do that to connectors before I take them apart. That saves a lot of potential damage.
