My phone has a second life thanks to Ifixit!

The face was cracked and the battery needed replaced.

Mijn oplossing

When I installed the new phone face I didn't pull one of the cable ribbons thru the slot in the phone all the way and when I tried to plug the cable into the logic board it wasn't long enough to plug it in. I had to take it all apart again and I make sure to pull the face cables all the way thru the slot that leads to the logic board. At this point I was thinking maybe I was over my head. I put it back together and it would not power on. Bummer!!! I thought that I wasted $65.00 in parts and 5 hours of my life. I assumed at this point that I was out $ and a phone. It was a

The next day I remembered that I had another iPhone 4S that had died and I opened it up to see what was supposed to look like put tougher. I set both phones side by side with both backs removed.

I immediately noticed a part missing from the phone I took apart. There are two screws that holds the battery cable in place and one of the screws holds a gold colored prong which I assume is a ground connector that I missed when I reassemble it the first time. Sure enough I found that that part was still taped to the paper I printed out for that step of the disassemble/reassemble. I attached the missing ground part, replaced the phone back plate, and it powered up. It works perfect!!!

I printed out all the steps and taped the screws and parts to the sheet with its steps.

Take your time., don't panick and walk away every once in awhile to rest you eyes and brain. You definitely want to buy tools and buy a new battery while you have apart. I feel very satisfied now that I was able fix it myself.
