This iPhone months ago showed some sort of darker background spreading into the display, which darkened the picture but the phone still worked. One day the entire screen went pink with some lines that would appear and disappear when the phone was turned off. The rest of the phone worked, it took calls and Siri worked. Diagnosis was a bad screen.
I ordered the new display with the integrated camera, others said that this was worth the extra cost, and I would tend to agree. The repair took about an hour and I had no issues. The most difficult part was pulling the phone open, and then trying to close it again. Looks like you have to make sure the top of the phone is put together completely before pressing the bottom half together. Interconnects were easy to disassemble and reassemble, far easier than a Nintendo 3DS I had to repair.
Buy the one with integrated camera, this went without a hitch and you don't want to risk your phone over saving a few dollars. I purchased a higher-quality 000 Philips screwdriver for an earlier repair, and I highly recommend this.
