Macbook Pro Repair Double Happy Ending

Mijn probleem

My daughters two year old Macbook Pro was locked up, just showing a yellow folder in the middle of a gray/tan screen. Since she was away at school, I could not diagnose it for her, so someone from her school narrowed it down to the Hard Drive Cable. I wasn't for sure that he was right, but I had no alternative since she would only be home for a day and a half, to order the part and have it sent by two day mail.

The repair was easy, as I've taken the back off of her Mac before, so I was done in 20-30 minutes.

Along with that, some Macbook have been known to make a snapping noise when you open the lid. I was able to narrow that down and make an adjustment on that as well, no more snap. It was not the hinge, it is the distance between the back of the lid and the back of the base. When you open it, the two pieces of plastic meet and make a slight snapping noise. It doesn't hurt anything, but it sounds bad. Open up the lid to a 90 degree angle and place the Mac on its side. Insert a double up dry clean towel or wash rag between the lid and the base. Close the lid using light pressure, it won't close completely, maybe only 25-50% of the way closed. This will increase the distance between the lid and the base, and Buh Bamm, no more snapping noise. I told her she might have to do this occasionally as the lid gets closed and pushed down in the back. Laying on the table, in a back pack, even in it's sleeve, etc.
