Mijn probleem

Like the others, got the flashing folder with question mark icon and immediately thought it was the hard drive. Got a new drive on Amazon and that didn't work either (my test was to hold down the T button while powering up my Macbook <aka "Target mode"> then plug the Macbook via firewire in to another computer which should cause the Macbook's hard drive to show up on the other computer. But neither the original drive nor the new drive showed up. Sent the Amazon drive back and pondered buying a new computer (figured the logic board was gone). Was gonna throw in the towel, but stumbled on IFixIt one night at 3:00 am and read about the cable.

Mijn oplossing

Having never done any type of computer repair (other than replacing a drive or adding ram) it looked straight forward. Took less than ten minutes to repair and works perfect! First thing I did after it re-booted was back everything up!

Mijn advies

There appeared to be a comparable cable on Amazon for much less, but I wasn't sure. The easy step by step guides and easy- to-find way the IFixIt site i set up, they earned my business. The new cable and Spudger tool cost $49.00. Glad I spent the extra bucks to support IFixIt. I'm certain any computer repair place would have charged hundreds or suggested I buy a new computer.
