It Lives! Breathing life into a dying MBP by replacing the HDD and SATA cable

One day, just out of the blue the laptop wouldn't boot, and when it did it was unbearably slow.. After quite some troubleshooting I narrowed it down to the I/O with the disk. It was either the HDD or the cable!
I tried to isolate the cable from touching the optical drive by some tape, as advised by someone on Amazon, but that didn't solve the issue. Essentially I decided to replace the cable AND the disk, opting to install a 250G SSD disk instead.

How did the repair go? Smooth.. It's a relatively simple fix. Tiny screws and narrow spaces can be a bit annoying if you have large hands or if your fingers arent all that nimble but it's not a difficult repair by any means.
My only concern was with the adhesive on the cable; it's difficult to place the cable correctly, so I waited with removing the coating on the adhesive. The problem is, when the cable is finally in position, you can't really reach under and remove the tape. So I relied on the SSD to keep the cable in place. Hopefully I wont regret that decision.

Do your homework: troubleshooting, read up on the fix, make sure you have everything you need BEFORE you start diving in.
