Hard drive failure or hard drive cable?

Mijn probleem

Turned on my computer one day and I encountered the blinking question mark folder saying it can't find the hard drive. I did some serious research and found that the cable for all pre-retina unibody MBP 13" designs and some 15" failed commonly. I only had my MBP for a year, so it couldn't be that the hard drive had issues.

Mijn oplossing

So I learned how to switch out the cable myself and decided to upgrade my hard drive because well-- I might as well. My MBP works wonderful now, even faster after I upgraded my hard drive to an SSD.

Also! This method had worked very well with my friend's MBP and others.

Mijn advies

Don't be afraid to repair your computer yourself! Best decision I've ever made instead of going through so many hassles with others. I love my MBP and am thinking of doing more work on it for better gaming experience and all. Thanks, Ifixit.
