PS3 YLOD!! My PS Is Cured!!!

Mijn probleem

After at least 4 years of moderate usage, my PS3 had a YLOD. I was very disappointed. Not only was my PS broken but the game I had been playing (At the time of death) had now become trapped inside the counsel. Oh! And did I mention this all happened on Christmas day? I was very VERY disappointed.

Fortunately I just happened to find a repair tutorial on youtube. Which led me to iFixit's site.

Mijn oplossing

The repair went extremely well. It took me a little longer than expected. However, the instructions were very easy to follow and the illustrations were magnificent. At no time did I feel lost or confused.

In the end every piece was accounted for and reassembly was a piece of cake! I was pretty nervous about trying to turn the PS back on. I started to think "There's no way it's going to work." "That was just way too easy." But I finally decided to give it a shot anyway.

Lo and behold the PS3 powered on, stayed on, and even ejected the game that was stuck inside! I was so excited (But still a bit in shock) that I snatched the game and powered down the PS3.

Since then my nerves have settled and I've started using my PS again. It's been running at 100% amazingly. All of my game data was saved. Music, photos, and video files went unaltered. This repair was a complete success

Mijn advies

Once my PS3 was fixed I decided to really baby it. If I watch a movie I'll power it down immediately afterwards to let it cool off. The same goes for gaming. I'll only play for an hour or two tops. Then let it rest for a little bit. This is a good chance to stretch the legs anyway.

If all goes well then your PS3 will have a second chance at life. So, take extra good care of it and you'll be able to enjoy it even longer!
