Ifixit fixed it and cooled me down!

Mijn probleem

x-Box 360's Red Ring of Death. Having never opened my X-box 360 and learning that the level of fixing it was considered difficult, I expected there to be a ton of wiring and circuitry. I have to be honest, I was a little nervous. This was the second time that my machine and I had experienced the Red Ring of Death. The first repair was as simple as unplugging everything for a couple of hours and letting both of us cool down. Not really a repair! It took me a little longer than it did the game system! So the first fix lasted about 6 months. Then It happened for good. So I searched for a kit that was cheaper and comparable, but not even my local electronics or computer store had the parts that ifixit had included in their kit. No one had the thermal pads or the heat sinks. The only thing I could find was the thermal paste.

Mijn oplossing

Piece of cake. Between the kit and the guide, I would rate this repair somewhere between easy and difficult. I figure it took me in the neighborhood of about three hours. I took my time and now I'm gaming.

Mijn advies

Don't bother searching for a better deal. Don't bother trying to find the parts you need from different sources. Ifixit is the only source you need for this repair.
