MBP 13" Unibody Hard Drive Cable Replacement

Mijn probleem
My wife's MacBook Pro 13" (mid 2010) failed to boot with her 256 GB SSD. Disk Utility did not recognize it or the SSD I purchased to replace the failed drive. The MBP would however boot from an external drive. With that knowledge and recent posts to MacIntouch.com forums on the exact problem directed me to iFixit. This is a very common failure in the older MacBook Pros. I was able to recover the use of the original SSD but not the data.
Mijn oplossing
The repair went without a hitch. The part was a perfect fit. Subsequent restore operations enabled me to return my wife's laptop to her with a pristine Time Machine backup.
Mijn advies
Follow the instructions - they are perfect. Use the plastic spudger and screwdriver tips recommended. Pay the extra few $$ and get the new part with the IR sensor, indicator light and hard drive bracket attached. You will need to save the screws from your old bracket as new ones are not provided. If not for iFixit, I would have spent a lot of money at the genius bar with no guarantee of a quick fix.
