Mijn probleem

My daughters computer died the week before classes started at her college. She brought it to me and we diagnosed (lots of Googling) that her hard drive wasn't working. I told her I'd fix it then ordered the necessary kit from ifixit.

Mijn oplossing

I replaced the hard drive but the computer still would not find it. I knew the computer was working because it worked fine in recovery mode. A bit more Googling and I found that the cable to the hard drive was often a problem with this model of MacBook. I ordered the cable from ifixit and replaced the old one. That did it!

Mijn advies

The ifixit tool kits are very good. I was surprised how compact but well made the tools and kit were. The screwdrivers have magnetic tips which really help hold those tiny screws in place while you are aligning them.

Also, be patient, take your time & follow the instructions. I was about to close the computer back up but decided to go through the instructions one more time and noticed that I didn't plug the battery back in. That saved me a lot of stress and reopening the computer.
