My 15 year old daughter dropped her phone and shattered the screen enough that it no longer sensed her finger. I told her she would have to fix it herself, but I would help.
Of course, my daughter hates reading and following instructions when she thinks she knows what to do, but having so many pictures to help guide the repair made it easy for me to spot when she has a part lined up backwards and such. When she didn't believe me, I would show her the picture. She even started listening to me when I said "don't turn to hard" and "even if that screw driver worked, it's not the right one."
Besides three wasted minutes of trying to find a tiny screw on the floor because teenagers like to hold stuff over their lap rather than under proper lighting, the repair had only one flaw - one of the cables was not plugged in all the way. It's tricky to get everything in right without pulling a cable out, so I let my daughter take the back seat on the re-repair. I was so proud she got though it without stripping a screw or forgetting to put a part back in.
Even a 15 year old girl could do this.
