Leaky Lifeproof case? No problem!

I had my phone in a Lifeproof case and took it for a little dip in the ocean to get some cool snorkeling pictures. Much to my chagrin, the supposed waterproof case sprung a leak! I ended up with water inside the case. I immediately swam back to the boat and attempted to remove the phone from its case and turn it off, but I was just a teensy bit too late. As I was trying to turn the phone off, the screen flashed blue and then went black, and the phone was unresponsive. After drying the phone in silica gel beads for a few days, I tried turning it on. The phone showed that it had an empty battery and needed charging. Upon plugging the phone into the charger, it rapidly cycled between showing that it was plugged in to showing that it was unplugged. I tried multiple outlets and multiple cables, and the problem persisted, leading me to believe that I needed a new lightning connector assembly.

The repair was super easy! iFixIt's guide was phenomenal, and I even was able to find some advice about treating a phone that's been exposed to saltwater to slow/prevent future corrosion. Excellent resource!
