Mijn probleem
After 2.5 years, the battery was no longer holding a charge. It would go from 100% to 1% in the span of 30min. If I let it die, at first it would take nearly 12 hours to recharge before turning back on...then it took 4 days and I knew I couldn't put it off any longer. I am waiting to upgrade in the Fall so this phone has to last until then. Thus, I decided to do a (long overdue) battery replacement.
Mijn oplossing
The first iFixit battery was faulty and caused my phone to get stuck in an infinite boot up loop. I tried to reformat but it would error. So, I put my old battery back in and the phone worked fine- no data loss. Contacted iFixit to get a replacement and they handled it promptly. I picked up my new battery the next day and iFixit took the non-working one to recycle. The second battery worked perfectly fine and my phone booted up without any problems.
I will admit it was annoying that the first battery did not work, but their customer service was very quick about getting me a replacement. If the replacement had also not worked, I'm sure they would have given me a full refund if I asked. Thankfully, I didn't have to do that.
Mijn advies
If you follow the tutorial video, you shouldn't have any issues. I used small metal tins to keep all the tiny screws and metal plates organized. The hardest part is taking off the screen for the first time. I found it easier to have one person hold the suction cup + phone and do the pulling while the other pries at the edges with the tool til you get it unclipped. It's super easy to do by yourself after the first screen removal though.
Everything else is super easy. The first time will take about 30-40min if you take your time (like you're supposed to). But if you have to take apart your phone multiple times like I had to, you can get it down under 10min. :)
Overall, it's a super easy fix it job. I just hope the first battery you get works. Good luck!!
