After having replaced my iPhone 4s battery three times in the last 8 months I was getting a little sick of it all. Surely these new batteries weren't so bad as to only last a few months as opposed to the original Apple one, even with a daily recharge?
After some digging, I found that a lot of these '0-cycle' batteries were nothing but 'reconditioned' (read USED) batteries being resold with new stickers. So the last battery I bought (by a third party dealer from the marketplace of the biggest sales website on the planet), I installed it and used a program called iBackupBot to get the battery info and was astonished to find that this 'new' battery had already been charged 144 times!!! After sending it back, the company assured me it was 'a batch of bad batteries'. Yea, like I believe that!!
Ordered a new one from iFixit, installed and tested using the aforementioned app. It was a new zero cycle unused battery. Fantastic! Its hard to know who to trust with batteries but from now on i know where i will be buying mine.

The repair takes around 10 minutes if you have the right set of screwdrivers and you have no prior experience, and 5 minutes if you have replaced one already. Don't think that this type of repair is beyond you. If you can use a screwdriver and have reasonable eyesight then it could not be simpler.
Mijn advies
Don't waste your time on other companies or eBay vendors selling 'new' batteries, regardless of the cost or what they tell you. my last two were around $25 and were still duds. Get one from iFixit. And no, I have nothing whatsoever with this company other than being a satisfied customer.
