Apple screwed me ifixedit
20 - 30 minuten
My macbook has had more problems than I can count on one hand and each time I have taken it to the genius bar to get it fixed while it was under warranty. However within a week of the warranty expiring my hard drive failed and because it was my own custom upgrade I replaced it with the old one. Within 5 days that one failed too and I soon realized that the hard drives where not the problem but instead the cable for the drives was the problem. So I ordered a new cable from ifixit and within a week my macbook was running like new.
The repair was super simple. I had already watched a YouTube video of a guy working in his macbookpro hard drive cable, so when I got the part I knew exactly what I was doing. However, there were tons of instructions made eassily available; had I needed them ifixit had my back.
Replacing the hard drive cable in this is super simple, so simple that any monkey with a screw driver could do it. If you want to save yourself a few hundred bucks by trying to fix your issue by yourself instead of letting the "geniuses" at apple work on it I deffinately reccomend trying this repair your self. I will say though that ifixit reccomeneded that I order a spudger and I said for $2, why not? It was however nearly useless and is already nearly broken. It is by no means a required tool for this job.
