"Getting Fat"

Mijn probleem

My iPhone 5 has been wonderful (sans some early iOS 7 growing pains), but after having the machine for 2 plus years… it's battery started to bulge just a few weeks ago. This bulge was getting so bad that the top right portion of the Retina screen started to raise up from the chassis. Eventually causing the whole upper portion (where the earpiece & FaceTime camera resides) to lift up… exposing some of the internal parts.

I thought the thing would explode if I didn't replace the battery. So I went ahead & took a chance on ifixit & bought a new one from them.

Mijn oplossing

When the battery came in the mail, I promptly disassembled the phone with the video tutorial ifixit has. It was pretty straight forward, & the about the only thing I had troubles with were the 3 cables that attaches to the Retina display. Other than that the phone booted with no trouble.

Mijn advies

About the only thing I can tell anyone about doing this procedure is to take their time. & another thing, once the phone has been reassembled, make sure to take out, & reinsert the nano SIM (several times if you have to). Especailly if you're still on iOS 7, doing so will prevent you from wondering why the phone is unable to find a carrier signal… it took me nearly 15min of fear before trying this out… I thought I'd f%#ked my beautiful iPhone 5 up lol
