Mijn probleem

When my iPhone turned two years old, the battery started draining really quickly and behaving unpredictably (going from 80% to 10%, going from 30% to 0% suddenly and shutting down). It was at the point where I could no longer use the phone.

Mijn oplossing

I ordered the battery and the kit because I needed the special screwdrivers, the suction cup and the prying tool. I watched a few videos online and read a lot of comments. I am not a tech guru, but I prefer making my own repairs wherever possible, and I thought this sounded pretty straightforward. It was actually much harder than I thought it would be, mostly because of the amount of force I had to apply (to the screen and the battery) and the size of the parts (SMALL). I think it took me over half an hour to make the repair. Most of that time was spent trying to get the battery out, first by pulling the tab, then by prying. I also spent a fair amount of time just trying to get the screen off.

Mijn advies

I would recommend doing your research and knowing what to expect. Watch videos posted elsewhere in addition to the one posted here for two reasons: 1) this video involves detaching the screen entirely. I did not want to go that route, so I made the repair while my screen was still attached at the top, and 2) this video spends no time on putting the new battery in or getting the screen back on, which I thought was a pretty glaring deficiency. What I did like about this video is that it shows you where it's safe to pry the battery.
