Never let your MacBook Pro have any rootbeer (no matter how nice it asks).

Mijn probleem

After spilling a small amount of root beer on my laptop, I immediately turned it off and removed the power source. After wiping it off I let it sit for two weeks in my closet to dry. But when I plugged it back in the battery would not charge and only got up to 20% capacity (indicator lite only would show 2 bars). Also, the power sorce light was barely visible. The power sorce charged another Mac easily. Connected to the other Mac, it's light was bright and clearly visible. My Mac turned on and otherwise operated normally.

My Mac was out of warrenty and the people at my local Mac retail store (PeachMac) said there was nothing they could do.

Mijn oplossing

Even though everyone refused to even attempt to fix it, I couldnt just throw this machine away. i got on the internet and did some research. Once I narrowed the problem down to the MagSafe DC-in connector I was able to order the part and the correct tools (not available at the local hardware store). I followed the instructions to replace the MagSafe connector. It took about one hour. And WELLA!!! JUST LIKE NEW!!!! I fixed it.

Mijn advies

Three things come to mind: 1) YOU MUST HAVE THE PROPPER TOOLS. They are not expensive. 2) The specific detailed instructions with pictures were perfect. better than video to show the details. and 3) the keyboard cable reattatchment step was more tricky than it appeared. The comments left by others helped me figure it out.
