Orange Juice and Cat Hair

Mijn probleem

Someone who owned cats spilled orange juice on their MacBook Pro trackpad. It continued to work for a few weeks then suddenly stopped.... When they brought it in and I opened it up, there was sticky evaporated sugary OJ residue with Cat hair caked in it all over the underside of the trackpad and fans. Obviously they needed the trackpad replaced.

Mijn oplossing

After spending far to much time with Cotton balls and rubbing alcohol, I got the internals of the MacBook cleaned. I was not sure if replacing the trackpad would work. My fear was the logic board might be damaged itself. Luckily the repair went very smoothly and sure enough the Trackpad worked like a charm. I was very glad it came with replacement screws. One less cat hair infested piece to mess with.

Mijn advies

In the case you ever do spill a liquid on your laptop. It is best to get it checked our right away instead of continuing to use it for a few weeks. Better to be safe than sorry.
