Nexus 7 2nd Gen Fixed!

Mijn probleem

I had the dreaded accelerometer problem. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. A reboot would usually solve it. I tried taking off the back and taping the ribbon down. That lasted for a while. Then, one time when I opened the back and tried to wiggle the ribbon it came out. I ruined the catch trying to get the ribbon back in. Then I ruined the ribbon by trying to jam it in the catch. The tablet still worked, but the accelerometer was completely shot.

Mijn oplossing

The repair was super easy. I watched several videos. Since I was already a champ at taking off the back, that went fast. After that I just had to remove one speaker connection, three ribbon cable connections and 7 screws. The new piece popped right in, the cables reconnected easily. The replacement board and ribbon worked like a charm.

Mijn advies

Be careful with the catches for the ribbon cables. I broke mine by tying to flip the white bar up on the large ribbon (which isn't what flips so I broke it which is what started this process). The catch for the large ribbon is black and the catch for the two little ribbons is off white. They flip up in opposite directions. That was the hardest part. Be sure to watch the videos, it will make sense then. Also start at the top when removing the back and take your time. I did crack the lower corner of the back, but I was trying to force it off. It's a tiny crack, but a crack nonetheless.
