Mijn probleem
I handed my iPhone 5 off to my husband after 2 yrs and upgraded. Shortly after, the phone started dying after 20-30%. He had to charge it several times a day etc. After researching, I found that the 5's have had a battery issue. It kills me to have to pay over $100 to just replace a battery. That's ridiculous. I told him I can do it myself and he said go ahead.

I love the words of encouragement as son as you open the box. "You Got This" made me laugh and say YES I DO. lol the magnetic tools that came with the kit are perfect. I can't see how you could do it without them being magnetized. I followed the step by step on YouTube from ifixit. It took me about 30 min. because I'm just like that, and this video doesn't walk you back through closing, so tracing my steps via video took a little time.

If your following the ifixit video, I suggest that you watch each step first, then execute it. She tells you things you need to know BEFORE you get there ex: upon lifting the front screen, don't pull more than a 90 deg. angle. Sounds simple enough, but as your struggling to get the screen off, it would be easy to lift it straight up and off because your pulling so hard. Also, I've read that some have had a problem with the screen after re assembly. I took my time, and what she doesn't tell yu in the video is that these "chips" that you are disconnecting actually "clip" back into place. I know I know, sounds like a DUH thing, but a lot of us don't take electronics apart, so this is important! I can't stress enough to use the ifixit video and then go backwards step by step to re assemble and make sure your phone looks EXACTLY like the one in the video. At the end of the day, I haven't heard ANY complaints about his phone dying. I asked "how's that new battery?" His response? "It's like having a new phone again! Thank you!" Hahaha no, THANK YOU, ifixit!
