10 - 30 minuten
4s phone was draining rapidly when using camera or video apps, would be nearly fully charged, then within 45 minutes would show no charge and sometimes shut down. Everything else about the phone is still great, and I have no desire to buy a new one, so--- terrified, I ordered a replacement kit.
Got the phone open and looked at the first few photos w/description of what to do as far as pulling little bits of stuff loose but not losing other incredibly small bits of other stuff. Read a couple of other users tips about their experiences, and as often happens with me, I just nearly packed it in without trying. Actually began to just put the phone back together-- then it occurred how ridiculous that was, and I just plunged in and pried the tiny little stuff apart and pried the battery out and put it back together, and it works. Charging now, seems to still know everything it ever knew, etc.
My tips: having Superman strength vision would help, but if you don't have that, a good light is essential. I got a q-tip and a plastic toothpick from a Swiss Army Knife to help coax back into place that little SOB that lines up over one of the screw holes -- and I did use a big white towel as my operating surface, just so nothing could go bouncing away. All in all, as satisfying and successful experience as I could ask for -- truly, I worried about whether buying the kit and trying to do it was a mistake--- but it worked out just fine.. If tomorrow my phone blows up, though, I'll be gettin' back in touch, okay?
