My iPhone 5, like many others, fell and hit the ground. Not once, but twice in the same week. To my misfortune I had just taken off a phone case I had on it. The screen was cracked and I was getting glass shards in my finger tips. I took it to a CPR (Cell Phone Repair) in the area near me and they estimated the cost to fix it to be around $125. That's quite a bit of money to fix a phone like this. Luckily I had an upgrade through my phone carrier and I was able to get the new iphone 6. I asked about trading in my old phone to knock down some of the cost of the new phone I'd be getting, but I was turned down because they do not accept broken phones. He then suggested iFixit.com for a cheaper fix so I could turn around and sell the phone for its rightful price. I quickly went online and checked out the screen. It was more than half the cost of what I would have paid to get it done. I bought it right away and awaited its arrival.
The repair went great! It took me no more than 30 minutes. I read through a few instructions, made a plan, and started to take it apart. My biggest challenge was getting the old screen off because I could get no suction when everything was cracked. That didn't stop me though. I managed to get it all put together with the new screen and it looks crisp and clean like a new phone.
The most important thing I could suggest to anyone is to take your time. You're working with tiny parts and pieces that if you go about wreck less with, will cost you more than you bargained for.
