Mijn probleem
Upon startup I was shown the folder with a question mark icon. The Riddler icon as I've called it. After talking with local Mac store and doing some troubleshooting of my own. Found the likely problem and was advised that I couldn't purchase individual parts ended up on ifixit.com. So a 10 minute job would end up costing hundreds of dollars and take upwards of 2 weeks — not impressed.
Mijn oplossing
Repair was easy — I have limited computer hardware experience and it was done within 10-15 minutes on my kitchen counter, most of that time is just fumbling with the tiny stainless steel bits that hold the case together. To save some extra time you may want to bend the cable before you drop it into the case, when you get the cable it's flat and will need to be fitted into the case and around some of the components.
Mijn advies
If you have the missing folder icon, first buy a hard drive enclosure and boot from that to make sure your existing HD is ok. If that is fine, then you'll need this cable. Do it yourself, save time and money — feeling like a hero is a bonus.
IMPORTANT — Make sure not to have any potential static electricity in the area, you maybe want to look into one of those grounded bracelets / wrist straps if you have any concerns. I've heard stories of people destroying hardware off small static shocks. If in doubt, get the strap.
