Mijn probleem
My backlight was flashing as I opened/closed the screen of my MB Core 2 Duo (not Santa Rosa). In the most critical times I had to spend minutes finding the perfect angle of screen opening to have a constant backlight.
Mijn oplossing
I took it with patience, and had to completely open my MB four or five times in the end.
I first wanted to simply clean and localise the problem...
I then ordered an inverter chip, which was not the source of my problem in the end.
I then ordered the inverter cable at the old iFixIt supplier : Powerbookmedics.com. I ordered the 3pin (right one) and recieved the 4pin (wrong one). too bad.
In the end I sorted it out ordering directly on ifixit.com who did better job than Powerbookmedics, and i really want to thank them for this caution ! :)
The complete repair process (with the right piece, the right tools & a little bit of habit coming with time) took me about 2 hours. It was really easier than I thought !
My only advice is :
Don't hesitate to open your old malfunctioning devices, you're not obliged to always buy new ones !!! it cost me about 30€ of tools & pieces to give my MacBook a new youth ! ;)
And my only precautions are always :
1) Be careful with static electricity,
2) Take a paper sheet with some temporary glue to keep all the pieces & screws on their respective step number,
3) Be PATIENT & take your time !! You'll get it done easy.
Thank you iFixIt !!!
Mijn advies
There is a step in double in the guide !
Step #20 & #29 are almost the same (one screw in double), which can be troubling when you follow the tutorial in reverse at the end.
I would simply delete step #29.
Thank you again !
