Mijn probleem
The iPad air had a severe crack (with a hole in it) by the camera that split into two cracks that covered 2/3 of the screen. The crack just happened while I was *holding* it.
Mijn oplossing
In my case, the iOpener did not get hot enough to loosen the adhesive. I had to recruit another person to run a hot air gun over the edges 30 seconds at a time. I taped over the digitizer, but just like the guide said, it shattered and cracked even worse. The suction cup became useless. Essentially, I had to wear protective gloves and scrape out the glass along the edge. Everything else went fine, but I have one small shard of glass between the digitizer and LCD. It's almost exactly in the center. I thought I got them all out, but one must have snuck by. This digitizer now pops a little at times if it's pressed in the the right place. This is also right by the camera. My guess is that this is a design flaw with the iPad itself. There's nothing to reinforce it. After doing some research on the web, this is a COMMON area for the iPad Air to crack.
Mijn advies
The hot air gun seemed to work better, but we were *very* careful. Take your time. Use the picks. Make sure any pieces of broken glass are not on your LCD. Maybe use something around the camera to reinforce the digitizer?
