Mijn probleem
I have been having battery life issues for that past few months. I thought it was the usual IOS issues, but my battery seemed to drain faster than normal. The repair cost was double the cost of the repair kit so I thought I would try it myself
Mijn oplossing
With some trepidation I began the repair. Not having the magnetic mat, I used the cardboard container that the repair kit came in to separate/store the parts. I had the replacement guide up and went through each step. The screen came off easier than I thought it would and when I looked inside, Man, those screws are small. As I removed the front panel accessory cover, one of the screws dropped behind the cover. After removing the screen, I was able to get the screw out of the case.
I thought the battery removal was very difficult. It took longer than I expected because I did not want to apply too much force to remove it. But finally it came free. Re-assembly was a snap. I made one mistake and did not seat the screen properly, but I got it the second time.
Then, the moment of truth... Would my phone work. I pressed the power button, saw the Apple logo and my phone booted with no issues. My problem was solved as I can now go more than 2 hours without needing a charge.
Mijn advies
Make sure the area you use is free of distractions and anything that could get in your way. At one point when trying to remove the battery I almost spilled a cup of coffee. Not a good thing. I also found that when reinstalling the screen it helped to lean the screen against a stand so it stood vertically and I could use both hands to connect the cables.
Also, if you have big hands, if you can rent smaller fingers that would also help!!
I will definitely do my own repairs from now on and recommend iFixit to my friends.
