Mijn probleem

Problems included erratic performance, boot problems, etc., stemming from what was originally diagnosed as a bad HD, that turned out to be a bad HD ribbon cable. Why did I fix it? Because, the MacBook is a great machine, iFixit made the task manageable, and it was worth the effort.

Mijn oplossing

This aspect of the repair was accomplished in 10 minutes. The first go-round installing a new HD was a rehearsal for the final fix and took2 or 3 hours, mostly fiddling with the partitioning problems.

Mijn advies

I would, again, recommend iFixit's tools. Their magnetic organizer mat is a good idea. I used a small shop magnet to keep the screws in line, but for complex repairs, the mat is probably a wise investment. I am still nervous having magnets near my computer and it's storage devices. Any wisdom about that would be appreciated!
