Mijn probleem

I dropped the phone on a tile floor. Only the left 1/4 of the screen still worked.

Mijn oplossing

The repair was a successful nightmare.

First, despite every effort to not open the case too far it required so much force to get it open (I only used the single enclosed suction cup) that it burst open so far the something flew out and the cable popped off. As I sat there wondering what flew out I needed a magnifying glass to determine if I'd ripped the cable from the socket. I amazingly (someone up there must like me) hadn't.

Then the screws. Well at least I think they were screws, maybe if I had a 1,000 watt light and a microscope I could determine if they were screws. Tiny? These screws are tinter than you can believe. I'm over 50, I have very strong reading glasses, I needed a magnifying glass to put them back in. When I dropped one with my shaggy dog at my feet it required a very powerful magnet and a cooperative dog to find it. It was at this point I found on the floor the item that had popped out at the disastrous opening, it was the clip that holds the cable.

It came apart hard, so how did it go back together? Well, since it wouldn't go back in by hand force I laid the glass on the table and pushed the back down onto it. A big snap and amazingly it popped back together without cracking the screen.

This never should have worked, but with the tools provide (except the magnet) it worked.

Mijn advies

Put a towel down to catch any dropped screws.

Buy the suction cup pliers.

Have a very bright light and either eyesight a surgeon would envy or a head mounted magnifying glass.
