15 minuten - 1 uur
My friend's iPhone battery was 2-1/2 years old; which was definitely on its last leg. When it was at 50% it would go all the way to 1% for two hours turn off, then she'd plug it in and it'd say 17%. Obviously it was time for a new one.
The repair went fairly smooth. Taking it apart took only 20 minutes but putting it together I had a snag. The actual of installing battery and putting all the screws and front facing touch screen was fine but when I turned it on, only the back light would come on. Luckily in the guide it says sometimes this happens just disconnect the battery and reconnect it. So I did no problem and finished putting it all back together. THEN 8 hours later while I was sleeping (I'm on midnights) I got a text saying all her pictures are missing. I read around and see that this is common with screen replacements; however, I didn't replace the screen. The only thing I can think of is that I took the screen off then reconnected it so that must be where the issue came from. Now we are in the process of trying one of the recovery programs to save as much of the 3000 photos she hS. I told her since she has a computer that she needs to back them up or d/l most of them off her phone to free up space on the phone, and to avoid worrying about not having pictures.
Everything in the actual process went smooth. Only problem is a semi related incident of pictures disappearing, but still on the phone taking up memory space. All in all this is the second time I've ordered and used ifixit.com and I love it. Everything has been simple to use and easy to understand and now I'm doing all the phone work at my job. Maybe I should goto school for this.
