Mijn probleem

My dry bag failed recently when sailing and my Apple 5s phone was submerged for more than an hour. Whenever a phone gets dunked, I replace the battery. I've seen the voltages on water soaked lithium batteries do very strange things, leading to permanent damage.

Mijn oplossing

So, on discovering the water logged phone, I first rinsed it repeatedly with deionized water, then dried it out at 125F in a container of silica gel for 72 hours. Once it was completely dry, I pulled it apart using your guide and replaced the battery before attempting to power it up. Keeping the finger print ribbon cable from being over stressed was stressful, but I managed - I'll probably invest in the iClack thing if I have to do this again. End result is a fully functional phone with only some weird bright spots on the LCD.

Mijn advies

Don't leave your duffle bag in the bottom of the boat when racing in 20 mph wind (lots of water in the cockpit)? And a vice with nylon teeth nicely limits how far the front panel will pop open without marking the case or the front panel. It will pop open.
