Mijn probleem
My daughter tossed the better part of her morning latte on to her open Mac Book Air. An Apple Store Genius estimated $750 to clean it out. I figured I had nothing to lose, so I found your tear-down instructions, ordered the Pentalobe driver and opened it up. Quite a mess inside... a wonder it still turned on. (We had it in a bag of rice while the Pentalobe was being shipped.) I spent about 4 hours cleaning it out with q-tips, isopropyl alcohol and a little water. It worked, but only when plugged-in because the battery must've fried... so I ordered a new one also from iFixit... about $100.
Mijn oplossing
...Once the battery came, I opened it up again and in short-order dropped the new battery in place. Everything works perfectly. Well... a few keys on the left side of the board feel a little sticky, but they work. So your instructions and easy/quick parts ordering saved us over $600. Well done!
Mijn advies
Nothing to add really, the right tools and good instructions with photos gave me the confidence to try, and it wasn't that hard.
