Battery replacement

Mijn probleem

Dropped my phone in some nasty chemicals and the people at the phone company told me I was out of luck. The phone was fried. I hadn't backed it up. So many contacts lost etc, what a drag. I found IFIXIT site on the web and thought if I could just change the battery, the phone might work long enough to back it up and recover my contacts

Mijn oplossing

The box came with battery and tools for my 4S 16 gig which Apple no longer makes. The IFIXIT site had detailed instructions and I followed them along with lots of added advice from others posted on the site. It was daunting to even begin, but I was desperate! What a great site! I had the battery out and changed in 30-40 minutes!

Mijn advies

My only problem came with pulling the old battery out. It was really sticky with the adhesive and the gooey chemical stuff I guess. I had to pry it out all around with the plastic pry tool, but finally it came free. I went for it, at the risk of breaking something because I had nothing to lose. The phone charged and immediately I backed it up on the Itunes site and it got really hot. Thought it was going to implode! But here's the amazing part. The next day the phone was cool to the touch, charged and working! I lost Siri, but she was a punk anyway, and the touch screen is a little temperamental at times, but my phone is still working! Don't let the phone company say "your out of luck" IFIXIT to the rescue! Absolutely love this site! Detailed instructions, fast service, great communication, thank you IFIXIT! You guys rock!
